I found an exciting center of therapy for children with special needs. The Connections Therapy Center provides access to occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, and they offer applied behavior analyses all in one center. All of the therapists work together for a cohesive therapy program. I find this center interesting because most centers focus on one thing, such as just multiple physical therapists working together, but instead the Connections Therapy Center provides one location for all of the needs of these children. The staff lives by the idea that therapy should be fun instead of the children feeling like they're working. This allows parents to receive the best care for their child. All the staff discusses the individual children to provide the best program for each child, focusing on what each specific child needs to succeed.
Another great feature the Connections Therapy Center offers is help with dealing with insurance companies and making sure their clients have full coverage through insurance or the best that they can do. It is great to see therapists coming together to even help with the business aspect of dealing with the insurance companies. The
Connections Therapy Center has two current locations, one in Washington,
D.C. and Lanham, MD. They are hoping to open more centers. I would love
to be a physical therapist working in one of Connections Therapy
Centers or create a center like this one back in my home state of Maine.
